What to expect

You will learn how to analyse voices, how to build character voices, how to increase your vocal choices

You will first create various characters for a piece of text and then for a cartoon.

About the weekend

The first evening is a chance to meet the rest of the group and share your goals for the weekend as well as begin practical work. It’s a chance to fully arrive, settle and ground yourself for the following two days.

The rest of the weekend will be highly practical. Giving you a chance to deepen your skills and knowledge through group and individual work.

A local walk takes place on the final afternoon.

What’s included

• Accommodation in shared rooms (with ensuite). Private rooms nearby are available at extra cost.

• Welcome dinner on the first evening. Vegan and vegetarian meals are available with advance notice. The group can order food for the rest of the retreat that will be delivered.

• A kitchen/living room space where food can be cooked and eaten.

What you’ll need

• Comfortable clothes that are easy to move in. Include layers as there will be a range of active and still work.

• A piece of text with at least 3 different characters. This can be a short scene from a play, an excerpt from a story or it can even be a song.

• A cartoon with 3 to 5 different voices - you can find cartoons on YouTube among other sources

• A pen and paper in case you want to make notes.

• A water bottle
